George Frederic Handel who lived in England since 1712, composed his oratorio „The Messiah“ in 1741 within 24 days. After an initially modest public reception, the oratorio gained in popularity and became one of the best-known and most frequently performed choral works.

William Christie, founder and artistic director of Les Arts Florissants, will conduct his ensemble in performances throughout Europe.
