Alain Altinoglu leads the new production of Strauss’ Salome at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. The premiere will take place on Sunday January 24 at 6pm with five additional performances: on Friday January 29, Wednesday February 3, Saturday February 6, Saturday April 2 and Wednesday April 6, 2016.
Claus Guth, stage director for this new Salome, focuses on the interior motivations of the characters and explores the power dynamic within the house of Herod.

A regular guest at the world’s leading opera houses, Altinoglu appears at Metropolitan Opera New York, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Teatro Colon Buenos Aires, the Staatsoper Wien, Opernhaus Zürich, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Staatsoper unter den Linden, the Bayerische Staatsoper München and all three opera houses in Paris. He has also appeared at the festivals in Salzburg, Orange and Aix-en-Provence.
During the 2015/16 season, in addition to Salome with the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Maestro Altinoglu conducts new productions at Vienna Staatsoper (Macbeth), Zurich (Pelléas et Mélisande) as well as Dmitri Tcherniakov’s new double bill production of Tchaikovsky’s Jolanta & The Nutcracker in Paris.
